Sound Booth

 Setup:

Mics:

Standard in-studio mic: ATR2100x-USB. It looks like a regular microphone and comes with a stand to use on a table. The price is about $100, which is a fair amount for good quality, but not top quality, technology.

On-the-go: Samson Go Mic. It pairs with a laptop and is designed to be carried around. With the mobile sound booth, this could be a good idea to have one that can be easily packed up and carried. The other benefit is that it is only $30, which means many of these can be bought and connected to in-school laptops for immediate usage.

If the school is able to have a dedicated space for podcasts, I would go with the ATR2100x-USB. I would assume that it is likely better quality than the Samson Go Mic and will likely last longer if students do not have to carry it around (which raises the risk of dropping and breaking equipment). If the school does not have a dedicated space, the Samson Go Mic is a great alternative. This could be put into mobile makerspace carts and can be taken from class to class with a set of laptops. Students could make their own sound booths (which students could probably just drape a blanket over their desk and sit underneath like a fort) and record audio for whatever the assignment is.
