PLNs Revisited

Three additional people to add:

Scott Hebert (based in Alberta): Hebert has been working on gameifying the classroom, which garnered global attention and an award from the World Gamification Congress in 2015. One example of his work is his experimentation with turning the classroom into a year-long, RPG-style game for students to work on to achieve their goals. He has been sharing his journey under #GameMyClass online, which is what drew attention to his work.

Reason for Contact:

I chose to reach out to Scott Hebert. The idea of turning the classroom into a full-on RPG is highly intriguing and I wonder how that has impacted his students. I am also curious as to how he has continued to develop his ideas since he started working on gameifying his classroom back in 2013. I also appreciate that Hebert is based in Canada (and more specifically Alberta, where I am from) and may have some more relatable experiences for another Canadian teacher (ie myself). I am also curious about whether these concepts could apply to the library independent of the classroom. There have been assignments in previous courses about doing themes and events in the library, but I wonder how much more we can turn the library into an experience and not just a space.
