Reflection:
Since there was free choice in the subject matter, I chose to talk about K-pop, which is something I am interested in.The show I reference in my podcast is called Kingdom: Legendary War, and the premise is that there are six different groups who perform for three rounds (each with a different theme) to determine the most popular/best group. The best group is determined by a mix of votes from each other, experts in the industry, views on YouTube, and fan votes. In this brief podcast I discuss why on group may have received significantly fewer points than other groups.
I have actually been quite interested in starting podcasts before even though I am not a keen listener of them. The process was quite interesting. I wrote up a script with notes to make sure I stayed on topic but tried not to sound scripted. Without someone to talk to, a podcast feels very much like a presentation with no visuals. I found it difficult to decide what tone would be appropriate for my podcast. Professional? Casual? A mix of the two? I imagine that difficulty fades with practice, but because I do not listen to podcasts I find it difficult to take a more casual/conversational approach. I find the creating process quite fun and I enjoy creative outlets like podcasts and videos.
Questions:
What are some major differences between a podcast and a recorded presentation (without visuals)?
How could podcasts (either listening or creating) be used in the classroom?
