Hi, Victoria - Great questions! I especially the like the last one regarding whether or not the tech tool can be reused. Something I did not think about...
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if I can ask about your choice of colours? Why did you highlight 3 times with green, and only once each with yellow and blue? Was this to show importance?
Hi Stacey, I realized that it would probably be helpful to have a tool that serves more than one purpose/assignment/task. That way the learning goes a long way and in a sense feels more "worth it" since it can be used over and over again.
DeleteI chose green because the colour indicates a sense of growth/movement (we often associate it with nature/plants --> growing). I used blue since we usually associate that with cold and moving away from things. Yellow seemed to match the words "relative ease" the best because it is not really about growth or moving away, but feeling peace in taking on the new challenge of learning something.
Great questions! The standout for me is "Does the tech tool shift the focus of the task away from the curriculum". This should be at the heart of our use of tech. If it takes away from the intended learning then it's not the right choice. If it enhances learning then go for it! High lighting the important words does make them stand out though I wonder if you could have shifted towards a more neon colour to really make them pop?
ReplyDeleteForgot my name! Devon
DeleteHi Devon,
DeleteYes, I think that is something that is always at the forefront of my mind when selecting appropriate technology for a lesson. Does it take away from the focus or does it make things better?
I think neon colours could also be a good option! I went with more muted/desaturated colours probably out of personal taste, as the colour palette for the poster seems to be leaning that way.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the use of colour and font used to highlight the important action in each of your questions. I also really like how you divided the questions into ones you can ask before the lesson begins.
I think the use of the question about reusing of the technology is especially important as often it can take time to teach students how to use the tool and if it is only for a single lesson is it worth the use of time would be something you could evaluate.
I wonder about the use of blue. From reading previous comments you were thinking about it being moving away from something that is wanted. Were you thinking that the use of red would be too harsh in such a muted colour scheme? Or that it would invoke anger or other negative emotions?
